Vertical Farming: Tech Enabled, But Still Farming
Tisha Livingston is the CEO of Infinite Acres, a global joint venture between the Dutch company Priva, a greenhouse technology company, an American indoor farming company, 80 Acres Farms and the British Ocado Group, U.K.’s largest online grocer. Infinite Acres is a partnership of three companies working together to scale indoor food production through vertical farming done in environmentally controlled, pesticide-free facilities. Prior to forming Infinite Acres, Tisha was the co-founder and President of 80 Acres Farms, a pioneer in the field of vertical farming in the United States, where they grow, operate, sell and distribute the freshest vegetables and herbs delivered to supermarkets and restaurants year round. In her prior role, Tisha was Chief Operating Officer of a Division of Del Monte Foods, Sager Creek Vegetable Company. She connected with many American farmers and valued the role of local food in enabling stronger and healthier communities.

Dan is CEO of Abundant Robotics, who are driving major leaps in productivity with agricultural robots. After growing-up in Louisiana and Texas, Dan was drawn to Silicon Valley. Starting as an Intel product manager and then gravitating to startups, Dan has helped grow successful companies in a variety of domains. Abundant is the third robotics company he’s helped launch. Dan earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Harvard and an MBA from Stanford where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.
Harrij Schmeitz is Owner & Chief dream Officer at Technology{}Pull. A company founded to bridge the GAP between #technology #innovation and #agri #food #industry #disruption.
When in 2016 Fruit Logistica Asia took the initiative to start with the SMART HORTICULTURE ASIA Conference he was asked to be
independent chair of the session and make up the program based on the last new developments in #hortitech.
Since he finished his studies in Horticulture in 1985, he has worked on ICT and Agro & Food. He is a specialist in the agri & food supply chain on (information)technology and business. He works/worked for large agro-business companies like Rijk Zwaan, Environmental Project Floriculture, Cooperation DOOR, Topsector Horticulture & Starting Materials, etc.
As a thought leader in Information-standardization and Information management in Fresh Supply Chains, he is also working for the Foundation Fresh Upstream: the platform for fresh produce chain information. Here he works on a global scale on standards for food safety, product identification and chain information management.
Next to this Harrij is very active in implementing #disruption in #horticulture. For the big Dutch growers’ associations in Fruity Crops (FVO) he is Program manager for the GLAS4.0 program. Connecting growers to technology. For Royal Fruitmasters he is part of the Innovation team Fruitmasters NEXT where the Digital Orchard and the Data lab are his key responsibilities.
